Christian Bale excited to star with Tom Hardy in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Christian Bale is doing press for his new movie The Fighter and naturally he’s being asked a lot of questions about The Dark Knight Rises. You can find his previous interviews here but I felt like this latest interview deserved it’s own post.

When speaking with MTV, Bale was asked if he was looking forward to having Tom Hardy as an opponent in The Dark Knight Rises. He replied “Yeah, sounds good” and then went on to praise Hardy’s work in Inception and Bronson. As you know by now, Hardy is rumored to be playing Hugo Strange. Did Bale confirm that Hardy will in fact be a villain or did the word “opponent” fly right over his head? Check out the video and decide for yourself.

    Bale did not confirm anything.

That means NOTHING! Stop teasing us, dude!! haha

Well on paper it would mean a bit more I think…

MTV: It sounds like Tom Hardy is going to be an opponent for you in this one?
      Bale: Yeah, sounds good.

However in the video, it looks like Bale misses the word “opponent” and is just answering the question about working with Hardy and not necessarily fighting *against* him in TDKR. I think his comment could be taken either way though, which is why I posed the question.

How about showing us the whole interview instead of just fragments of it day by day!

That’s a concern to bring up with MTV. That’s where the video came from. Not to compare B-N with BOF, but Jett posted these very same videos. As much as I don’t like BOF, I have to give Jett credit for posting this kind of thing at every opportunity. If there was a video on MTV of the whole interview, I’m sure it would be posted on BOF, and B-N (which I believe is a much better site). Not to be defensive (I have nothing to do with B-N, I’m just a fan), but don’t take it out on B-N. It’s a beef with MTV.

I hope this was directed towards MTV and not Batman-News.com. As SuperherooftheMonth pointed out, that’s an issue to take up with MTV. They’ve broke up their interview with Bale into pieces and have been posting these short clips for the past 2 days. It’s possible they’ll release a new clip today too.

He seems so nice here. No yelling or punching mothers. Gotta love Bale.

    • Eboley99

I know you were just kidding, but he never punched his mother, lol.

Hmmm. It would be interesting to see Bale come back after a few decades and play the Frank Miller Dark knight Batman in real time. never going to happen though. lol

I can’t join the discussion at SHH Info Hunters so I’ll throw my 2 cents in here. Nolan using unused footage of the Joker has been thought about 100 times before and the website could be reporting the story as a attractive idea turned rumor because of slow traffic orrrr there could be a good source.

I think Nolan would do it. TDKR is the last possible film to tribute Heath in. How do you not reference the Joker in TDKR? Do you pretend the last film didn’t happen? Can’t. Have to mention what happened. I’m sure there will be a small moment where we get a glimse of the Joker, they have 2 years to create an effects shot that will last 30 seconds. With motion capture, additional unused film, voice actors…we will see the Joker in some form in TDKR, it would be a dishonor not to.

Yeah, I decided not to post that rumor for now. If more websites pick up on it I will though. I think they’ll at least have to mention him. I like the CGI/unused footage idea, but I don’t believe that it’ll actually happen. I’d love to be proved wrong.

I think by citing that Hardy is rumored to play Hugo Strange on this article is misleading. It should’ve read ‘Hardy is signed on for the film’ instead.

Yes, on the internet, everyone’s a critic.

You’d think with official news on the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises finally breaking — Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle …
