Scratch Natalie Portman off ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ shortlist [Update]

Back in November Deadline released a shortlist of actresses rumored to be meeting with Christopher Nolan for lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises. Today it looks like we can scratch off one of the candidates. Natalie Portman’s reps revealed exclusively to People that she is engaged and pregnant. The other women on Deadline’s list were Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. With Natalie Portman unlikely to land a part now, which actresses would you like to see grab the two rumored lead roles? Let me know in this poll or leave a comment below.

Update 12/31/10: In an interview this week for Entertainment Weekly, Portman was asked if she’ll appear in the The Dark Knight Rises. Her reply? “Oh, I don’t know anything about that.” Of course even if she did know something, should wouldn’t talk to the media about it. The fact that she’s pregnant pretty much takes her out of the running now anyways. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled to shoot from May to November in 2011.

    agree with the dude. hathaway just seems like she’d be as out of place as katie holmes was. i vote for olivia wilde. keira is my 2nd choice.

    I’d still vote for Marion Cotillard. I’ve only seen her in Inception, but she was phenomenal in that, and she fits with Nolan working with actors from his previous films,

    Emily Blunt!!! she would be amazing in TDKR with Nolan and that cast she would be great plus she’s an actress Nolan has yet to work with he’s never worked with the same actress twice

    Well can’t say I’m surprised that she declined. After all, she is in the next summer’s “Thor” so to appear in a super hero film back to back isn’t really her style.

      She didn’t decline anything, she’s pregnant. An actress would have to be quite dim to decline (if asked to) work on a Christopher Nolan movie. Just like Evan Rachel Wood on Inception.
