‘The Dark Knight Rises’ to shoot in India

We’ve heard rumors that The Dark Knight Rises would film in India, but now it looks like we have some more evidence. According to Bhaskar News, Christopher Nolan will be shooting his final Batman movie in the city of Jodhpur. Other confirmed locations for The Dark Knight Rises include Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, the UK, and New York. Romania is also rumored as another possible location. The Dark Knight Rises will begin production in early May — that’s as soon as next week, folks!

    Could only be for BANE , i think ? Who knows ? but i ve always liked the fact , these films are not strictly set in Gotham , I think i will have a curry to celebrate !

      Perhaps they’re changing up his history a bit. Hardy is English, and the British Empire held India for a long, long time. Perhaps Bane will be an Englishman in a Indian prison? Who knows.

        Maybe but who knows it is possible that mr. Hardy will carry an american accent for this one. It’s amazing when you consider how many non-american actors can carry american accents so well when there are american actors who struggle with other accents.

      Yeah ! thats what i am thinking , dont know if it will be India in the movie , If i had to guess i would say they were looking for a Eastern type local with Temple like structures and it came down to a choice between Romainia and India .

          Disagree , I can see similarities in the archateture , add to that set dressing , and lighting and , these two locations could be made to look quite similar as some kind of League of Shadows HQ .

    Hey filming starts anyday now , did anyone see the 10 min preview Peter Jackson did for The Hobbits first day of shooting , or the picture Marvel just released for the first day of shooting on Avengers , What are the odds we get something from Nolan on day one ? I know , NO CHANCE , but thats probaly why he is the best !

    Maybe Wayne Enterprises outsourced all their jobs to India and now Batman has to try to find a way to bring them back to America.

    But seriously, I think it’s great that Nolan is willing to take advantage of real locations instead of doing everything in a studio, especially in front of green screens. It certainly gives a sense of scope to his films and makes it feel like Batman exists in our world, not the fake one of comics.

    Interesting to speculate on this. It could either be for the flashback or a scene like the Hong Kong one in TDK involvong Wayne Enterprises.

    That said, there could be a specific building or site which is set to double for something not set in India…

      I like Bale, but his voice is hit or miss for me. TDK gave him too much dialogue, particularly the final scene with The Joker. He should speak very little and in short sentences. But I applaud Bale and Nolan for at least trying to disguise Wayne’s voice, something George Clooney couldn’t even bother with.

      That’s a tricky issue… for many people, this is the weak point in Nolan’s bat-flicks. But that grunt makes sense for me. In my opinion, the very one failure in Nolan’s bat-saga was the choice of Katie Holmes in Begins.

            there was this scene in particular … when her boss/bf (in the office) tells her that bruce wayne is back in gotham , her reaction was just plain stupid acting !

    this is awesome …. i remember the indian theatres not playing TDK for more thn a week , hardly anyone out here went to see it …. but everyone went to see avatar ( hence tis ontop of the box office) ….. the billions of indians out to watch TDKR could help the movie go to the top

      Did u say no one saw TDk in india….  u must be stayin in some remote city, cuz in Ahmedabad I went to watch it on first day and halls were full and ppl were excited…..

        :) by “anyone” i meant the local crowds in smaller indian towns .  i shouldve been more clearer .

        the movie didn’t do that well , comparatively to the other local movies(and avatar , which ran here for months !! ) .  
        i was studyin in coimbatore at the time when it opened here , and it debuted in freaking tamil !
        (i actually got thr and sat down to watch , and the thugs started talking in tamil and the entire theatre boooed !! ,  there place was packed )  :( ..
        i took a train to kerala (palakkad) the same day , to watch it there for the last show of the night (thr were like total 40 people in the whole theatre )
        next day i  went to my hometown kochi to watch it ( it wasnt that crowded )
        i saw it later on in coimbatore too (which by the end of the week , was not that crowded) 

        the movie opened really well in big towns and cities and stayed there for months ,  
        but in smaller districts , did quite poorly , and actually ran only for a week or 2.

        but avatar was a different scenario ,  i didn’t expect the movie to do that well (i didnt find it all tht great) , but even with the 2d screens, the movie ran for months in even the  lesser populated districts !
        in the towns with the 3d screens , it was even re-released ! more than once ! 

        im not sure TDKR will do that well , but no harm in wishing :)
