‘The Dark Knight Rises’ begins filming at Mehrangarh Fort on May 6th

Earlier this week we learned that The Dark Knight Rises would be filming in India. Today, The India Times has many more details to add. According to their report, Christopher Nolan and his main crew will arrive in India on May 1st. Christian Bale is expected to arrive on the 4th or 5th, and filming will take place for two days on May 6th and 7th. They will be shooting at Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort, which is pictured above. No other actors were mentioned… perhaps only Christian Bale is needed for the two days in India?

    I can’t imagine what kind of scene can be shot there using only C. Bale. I mean, as somebody mentioned, this really looks like a prison (Bane’s presumably) but I don’t really imagine Batman checking it out for some reason… that would be too close to telling a ‘Bane origin’ story, and I doubt Nolan would do that. I bet it has more to do with the LOS. By the way, maybe that’s where they have a Lazarus Pit and young Ra’s is not a flashback after all (no, just kidding!) But maybe this is a Talia hideout, or maybe this is Bruce Wayne attending some BS event Talia (a.k.a. Miranda Tate if the rumoors are true) convinced him to go to(some philanthropy thing halfway across the globe) so that Gotham would be ‘defenseless’ in his absence… i dunno, just shooting random theories at you!

      I dont think we will get a trailer by the summer , but i think we will get some kind of teaser at this years Comic Con .

          TDK trailer was released just before christmas , so i would excpect 1st teaser at this summers Comic Con , 1st trailer just before Christmas , 2nd trailer May 2012 , Then the main event Summer 2012 , and of course starting from just next week May 6th 2011 , be prepared for Offical stills and unofficial spy shots , You know were to find the BEST coverage of all that Batman-news.com !

          Like EBostock said, hopefully it follows the same schedule as The Dark Knight. If so, we can expect a teaser trailer this summer at Comic Con, and then the 1st full trailer around December.     It’s hard to imagine them going all the way to India just to film a scene where he investigates Bane’s background. It would have to be far more significant than that to warrant the cost. I think we need to ask what kind of scene would only involve Bale and none of the other principal players AND why couldn’t it be done in a studio. I like the movie being shot on location cause it gives the movie a more epic feel. But it also seems wasteful to do so for a scene that weren’t a major plot point, especially if there’s the potential for that scene to end up on the cutting room floor. I wonder if there are other actors being flown in that we just don’t know about. I wonder if Bruce gets captured by Bane at some point and this is where he takes him.

      No way, Arkham is already established in Begins, like FanOfNolan stated they wouldn´t go across the globe to film something that they could replicate in a studio.

      I guess India will be India just like Hong Kong was Hong Kong in The Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne/Batman will have a strong reason to travel there I´m sure…

      Ok, I’ll start. I’d like to see, either a ‘Year 1′ portrayal of catwoman (as a hooker who sees batman in action and becomes ‘inspired’… this would tie up nicely with the ‘copycats of TDK) OR a ‘Selina-as-Falcone’s-Daughter’ portrayal, tying it to BB.

    Comic Book Movie is reporting that filming may not actually be taking place in India. For all the bashing you guys do of Jett and Batman-on-film, I’m surprised you don’t say anything about CBM. I’ve only looked at their site a couple of times, but almost everything they’re reported has turned out to be false and many of those stories were quickly yanked. I fail to see why some people knowingly put up fake stories that they know will be proven false.

      I think everyone knows CBM is a joke. But Jett and BOF claim to be the best source for, er, Batman on film news. But they’ve been very, very wrong with TDKR’s reporting. For example, Jett claimed to be “past the thinking part” when it came to actor-character associations, and claimed that JGL was either Alberto Falcone or Black Mask. (“I’ve known for a while, y’all, I just couldn’t say anything,” and all that crap.)

      Proven false. And mysteriously, nothing was ever mentioned about him being flat-out wrong. He just leaves quasi-cryptic remarks like “And for the time being, I shall keep my mouth shut. But just remember…With Chris Nolan, it’s never, Never, EVER as it seems.” No, Jett. Just admit you were wrong.

      And that’s another part of the problem. the arrogance factor over at BOF is through the roof, and a lot of people just find it repugnant. The self-congratulatory back-patting (he did at least two stories back-to-back about Gary Oldman where he recounted THE SAME STORY about meeting the actor) and self-righteous demeanor presented turn a lot of readers off, and the problem is, they used to really like BOF. BOF has personally squandered it’s good will.

      The question is, did CBM ever have good will to squander?

      No , it would of confused the issue , people would of wanted the Graphc Novel , X Men First Class is suffering from that , people want the original 5 ( cyclops, marvel girl , ice man . angel , beast ) but there not in the movie ( except beast ) , I fully excpect Warner Bros to make an animated The Dark Knight Returns , wich would be cool !

        EBostock is right… I mean, let’s first see the movie context to judge the name. I bet that Nolan refers to the Bruce’s father quote: “Why do we fall?” stuff. I think maybe the name of the first bat-flick was wrong: could be “The Dark Knight Begins”. Well, let’s see TDKR, maybe this name just fits nicely in the end!
        And yes, the animation is on the way! Is the Warner’s plan after Year One be done! Sweet!
