Henry Cavill keeps teasing Green Lantern, but why?

Henry Cavill Green Lantern Tease

Henry Cavill has been having some fun on social media the past two weeks. It all started when he shared a picture of his dog Kal, then a selfie with a Green Lantern statue in the reflection of a window and said “Other Kal looking for Hal #GreenLantern #Kal”. Kal as in Kal-El, Superman’s birth name, and Hal is of course Hal Jordan, one of the Green Lanterns.

Then a few days ago, Cavill posted a work out photo. It was very inspiring and sincere… until the very end of his post where he said “Nothing funny to post here, it’s deadly serious because I’ve got to make sure that I’m bigger than Green Lantern….Wait whaaat?” You can check out all three of his posts below.

And to add fuel to the fire, actor Armie Hammer “liked” both of Cavill’s posts. Hammer is assumed to be up for a mystery DC movie role. Some (myself included) expect him to show up as Nightwing, while others think he could be Green Lantern. So what’s going on here?

I have two theories. One is that Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer are just having fun and purposely messing with fans. Hammer has been doing this with the help of Joe Manganiello and Geoff Johns since last December. And second, maybe Green Lantern will make a surprise appearance in Justice League after all.

Producer Charles Roven has said that Green Lantern wouldn’t show up in the DC Films universe until at least Justice League 2, but that was over a year ago before Batman v Superman came out. A lot has changed since then and with Justice League reshoots likely to happen soon, it’s entirely possible that they could add Green Lantern to the movie if they wanted to.
