It’s all but confirmed that Warner Bros. is looking to produce a Justice League movie after reintroducing Superman into the world in next summer’s Man of Steel. It’s been reported that Will Beall has been hired to pen the Justice League script, and Warner Bros. is already looking at potential directors for the project. So how does this all affect the future of Batman on the big screen? Batman-on-Film has heard some whispers…

Said reboot will come after the [Justice League] film, not before. Therefore, the new cinematic Batman will be introduced in the [Justice League] film as opposed to a solo film. This would, according to my industry “[Friend of Batman-on-Film]“, assure the new Batman film series will be part of a “DC Cinematic Universe.”

Batman-on-Film goes on to say that this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, but it does pose an interesting scenario for Batman fans. Whoever is cast in the upcoming Justice League movie, which will probably be released in 2015, is likely to be the Batman we see on the big screen for years to come. As always, stay tuned to Batman-News.com for all the latest on Batman’s cinematic future.

Late on Tuesday night news broke that Warner Bros. was getting serious about a Justice League movie, having hired Will Beall to write the script. Now comic book writer Mark Millar has a few details to add about the direction of the movie.

A pal of mine is good friends with the new Justice League screenwriter and said his take on the team is incredible. Very real-world and not at all what you might expect. WB has a chequered history with their superhero characters. They’re great with their boy wizards, but less consistent with their DC stable. But my chum said that this could be a thing of beauty and has been in the works for a little while now, not just an avengers knock-off. Best of luck to them. The tidbits I heard sound quite dark and mature, which isn’t what I expected. But word on Gangster Squad is great too so I feel this is in really good hands.

Fans of the universe that Christopher Nolan created will be happy to hear this news, though how “real-world” can you get with heroes like Superman and The Flash? It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out. Stay tuned to Batman-News.com, we’ll be following all the latest news and rumors about the upcoming Justice League movie.

Back in March of 2011 Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov expressed interest in bringing DC’s heroes together on the big screen in a Justice League movie. Now, according to a report from Variety, we’ve learned that this project may be further along than we thought.

While Disney and Marvel were busy shooting “The Avengers” last year, Warner Brothers quietly began getting its own all-star superhero pic back on track, tapping “Gangster Squad” scribe Will Beall to write “Justice League,” based on the WB-controlled stable of DC Comics superheroes. Beall has yet to turn in his “Justice League” script, though he has become a favorite scribe of Warners.

You may remember that in 2007 George Miller signed on to direct a live action Justice League film. Characters were cast, costumes were designed, and story boards were completed. The film never took off though, and it was canceled about a year later. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out this time around.

We’re patiently awaiting the release of The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, but Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov is already thinking beyond that. Robinov revealed some very interesting details about the future of Batman in an interview with The LA Times.

Robinov’s top priority is to bring all of DC Comics’ superheroes together in a Justice League movie. The script is already in development, and Warner Bros. hopes to have the movie ready for 2013. You may remember in 2007 George Miller signed on to direct a live action Justice League film. Characters were cast, costumes were designed, and story boards were completed. The film never took off though, and it was canceled about a year later. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out this time around.

The most intriguing part of the interview had to do with Warner Bros.’ future plans for solo Batman films. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Robinov knows that the most bankable part of his superhero empire has been Nolan and his Gotham City films – the studio has yet to deliver a 21st century superhero blockbuster hit without Nolan in the director’s seat. Batman will continue to be a centerpiece property beyond next year’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and Nolan’s departure from the franchise. “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman,” he explained. Asked whether that meant he wanted to reinvent or possibly even reboot the character, Robinov answered assertively: “I do. Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

It’s great to hear that Batman will continue to be Warner Bros.’ “centerpiece” moving forward, and even more exciting to know that Christopher Nolan will be staying on to produce “Batman 4“. It’s unclear if Batman will be completely rebooted or continue where The Dark Knight Rises leaves off — we’ll have to wait and see.

What do you guys think about Warner Bros.’ future plans? Let me know in the comments.
