Matthew Modine explains why ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ didn’t shoot at Occupy Wall Street

Back in October there was a rumor that Christopher Nolan had plans to include the “Occupy Wall Street” protests in The Dark Knight Rises. That rumor was later debunked, and it never ended up happening. Matthew Modine, who plays a police officer in The Dark Knight Rises, spoke with indieWIRE and explained why the protests were not included in the film.

The wisdom of Christopher Nolan and his incredible team was that, while it seemed like a good idea to give [the protestors] an opportunity for work, to give them money, it would send a terrible message. At the end of the day, we’re making a movie. What’s happening down there is more important than that. To co-opt what’s happening there and around the country… we didn’t want to trivialize it. It was more important to respect what they’re doing than to do anything that could potentially trivialize the political situation downtown.

Oh, and in case you were wondering… yes that’s a photo of Matthew Modine holding woman’s underwear on set of The Dark Knight Rises. And no, I don’t have a clue about what’s going on there!

Liam Neeson is eager to see ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ (video)

MTV spoke with Liam Neeson recently about The Dark Knight Rises. Fans have speculated that Neeson may return in Nolan’s final Batman movie ever since we learned that The Dark Knight Rises brings the story “full circle”. In the interview, Neeson claims he doesn’t have a “f—ing clue” about The Dark Knight Rises’ story. Here’s a transcript for those of you who cannot view the video:

“You’re throwing me for a loop,” he told MTV’s Kevin P. Sullivan when asked about the upcoming comic book movie. “That’s right. I was in ‘Batman.’ I trained him,” he added in his best Ra’s voice.

Though his voice appears in the “Dark Knight Rises” teaser trailer, Neeson claimed that he doesn’t have “a f—ing clue what it’s about,” but that he’s “eager to see this one” when it hits theaters next summer.

“Chris Nolan’s made wonderful films, very rich, dark and complex, especially ['The Dark Knight'],” said Neeson. “Of course, it was cloaked in tragedy,” he added, referring to the death of Heath Ledger.

What do you guys think? Will we see a surprise return from Liam Neeson in The Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises‘ IMAX prologue is definitely coming. On December 16th along side Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol you’ll be able to see the first six minutes of The Dark Knight Rises. Today, Box Office Mojo reports that the MPAA has given the prologue an official rating of “PG-13″. Not surprising, but expect to see “some violence” when you sit down in your local IMAX theater next month.
