The Oscar nominations for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were just unveiled and The Dark Knight Rises is no where to be found. I’m a little surprised. I wasn’t expecting it to get nominated in any of the major categories, but I did expect it to be nominated in a more technical category like “Best Cinematography”.

The Dark Knight received 8 Oscar nominations back in 2009, so either The Academy really disliked Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman finale, or the competition was extra strong. Not all The Dark Knight Rises stars are upset though… Anne Hathaway received a “Best Actress In a Supporting Role” nomination for her work in Les Misérables.

The official The Dark Knight Rises Facebook page just released this awesome still photo of Catwoman. Unfortunately it’s not a high resolution photo, but Anne Hathaway has never looked better! Warner Bros. has been releasing new photos to build anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises’ Blu-ray release on December 4th. Stay tuned to Batman-News.com for a full review in the next few days.

Gameloft released a The Dark Knight Rises mobile game for iOS and Android last month and now several of the artists who worked on the game have unveiled some really cool concept art. Alex Negrea drew up some really cool storyboards for the game, while artists Uri So and Shenggang Dong shared their renders of Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. The internet was buzzing yesterday about the possibility of a Catwoman spin-off featuring Anne Hathaway’s character from The Dark Knight Rises. Unfortunately if you look at her full quote, it becomes clear that this probably won’t happen:

I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it’s with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least.

Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman lives in Christopher Nolan’s Gotham City, and he’s stated many times in interviews over the past couple years that he’s ready to move on from Batman. Still… you never say never, especially in Hollywood. Would you be interested in a Catwoman spin-off movie? Let me know in the comments below.

Earlier today Anne Hathaway, who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, issued a statement on the horrible shooting that took place in a Colorado movie theater during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises:

My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act. I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

Hathaway joins Warner Bros., Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, and Gary Oldman in showing her support to the victims and families who were affected by Friday’s tragedy.
