Unfortunately in Hollywood, deals don’t always come through. Warner Bros. definitely wanted to bring Christopher Nolan back to produce Justice League and they were trying to get Christian Bale to reprise his role as Batman too. El Mayimbe stopped by the Schmoes Knows Movies podcast this evening to give us an update.

According to El Mayimbe, Warner Bros. is having trouble getting Christopher Nolan on board. Nolan doesn’t want Justice League to mess with the story he created for The Dark Knight trilogy. There’s even some resistance about Superman from this summer’s Man of Steel appearing in Justice League. As it stands now, Warner Bros. is more likely to release a sequel to Man of Steel… Justice League is going to be pushed back a bit. As always, things could change but that’s the latest on Warner Bros. superhero team-up movie.

Last May, Bale told Empire Magazine that if Christopher Nolan came to him with a good story, he’d be willing to play Batman again. The plan right now is to have Christian Bale reprise his role as Batman and join Henry Cavill’s Superman. Warner Bros. feels like their back is against the wall… and has to do something huge in order to compete with Marvel’s The Avengers. El Mayimbe suggests that a scene following Man of Steel’s credits could involve Superman finding a “retired” Bruce Wayne, and persuading him to join his “team”. If that happened, El Mayimbe says fanboys would squeal like 13 year old girls at a Justin Bieber concert… and I think he might be right!

Christian Bale might have got a bad rap for his rant on the set of Terminator Salvation a few years back, but his recent acts of kindness show that he’s truly is a hero with or without the Batsuit. Back in July Bale visited with victims of the horrible Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting, and today I have another uplifting story to share with you.

Zach Guillot is an eight year old who’s battling Leukemia, and he happens to be a huge Batman fan. You can imagine his excitement when he received a call from Batman himself, Christian Bale. Zach’s family recorded the call and posted the video on YouTube. Check it out and head on over to Zach’s Facebook page for more on his battle against Leukemia.

Christian Bale was spotted in Aurora, Colorado today, visiting the victims of last week’s movie theater shooting.

Officials from Warner Bros. Pictures, maker of Bale’s most recent film, said Bale came to Aurora on his own.

“Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers,” said an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications.

Last Friday members of the press got to see The Dark Knight Rises and the opportunity to interview director Christopher Nolan and the cast (minus Tom Hardy, who is currently working on a new movie). Film critic Jake Hamilton asked some really great questions, and combined all his interviews into one massive 21 minute video. Hamilton assured me that his interviews are spoiler-free, but you should always proceed with a little bit of caution this late in the game.
