Hello Gotham, Andrew here. I’m still in LA at the moment because I might have another big exclusive thing in the works (Batman related of course) and I’m also having a pretty good time in this town!

If you kept up with my live Tweets on Monday night’s big event, you only got half the story. Monday’s big premiere of The Dark Knight Returns was a hectic, exciting, and ultimately rewarding experience. It was a nerve racking for a first-timer like me (I’ve looked at my work here as more of a hobby than anything and it’s grown out of control) but luckily I was too clueless about what was going on to be scared away from taking the task on. I didn’t know what to wear, I didn’t know what kind of filming/recording equipment I needed, I didn’t know how much time I would get to talk to everyone. Nothing. In all the red carpet footage you see online and on TV they never show you how things work behind the scenes for the folks asking the questions.

It’s hard to believe that Batman-News.com is 2 years old today. Back then The Dark Knight Rises didn’t even have an official title, we were all calling it “Batman 3″. Now we’re two months removed from Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman finale and the ride has been incredible! Thanks to you, Batman-News.com is the most popular Batman website in the world and things will only get better as time goes on. I love technology and I’m always thinking of ways to tweak and improve the website.

People often ask me what I’ll do now that The Dark Knight Rises is coming to an end. The answer is simple – I’ll continue to make Batman-News.com bigger and better. You may have noticed that I’ve started to cover more topics… movies, video games, TV/DVD releases, and there’s more to come. Want all the latest rumors about the upcoming Justice League movie? Wednesday, May 23rd was a big day in Batman for me. Not only was it the date of the Tumbler Tour in my city, St. Louis, but I also got to speak with famed graphic designer and Batman historian Chip Kidd. Even if you don’t know his name, you’ve surely seen his work! Mr. Kidd has designed the jackets of over a thousand books including Michael Crichton’s “Jurassic Park” (a design that was later used for the film’s logo) and Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road”. He’s also written his own books including “The Cheese Monkeys” and “The Learners”  as well as a few non-fiction Batman novels such as “Batman Collected” and “Bat-Manga!: The History of Batman in Japan”. But next week is the debut of “Batman: Death by Design”, his very first original graphic novel.

Big thanks to Christian Hall for sending in this awesome set video from The Dark Knight Rises. The scene here was shot in Los Angeles last night, and shows Batman speeding down the street, being chased by at least 30 police vehicles! We know that Batman was on the run from the cops at the end of The Dark Knight, could this scene be a continuation of that? We’ll have to wait and see, but seeing this on the big screen would make for an awesome opening scene in The Dark Knight Rises.

Batman-News.com reader “ChicagoBat” was lucky enough to get a tour of the new Batcave set which is currently housed at Sony Studios. While the Batcave is definitely returning in The Dark Knight Rises, it may be a little different than what we were expecting. Here’s what he had to say:

Visiting L.A. and had a friend working at Sony Studios show me the Batcave set. It’s half finished, and pretty much looks like the same set we saw in “Batman Begins”. They’re still completing the quarry walls but the wooden manor foundations were all there in the corner. They may add more set dressing with equipment and such but don’t expect a radical redesign as most fanboys are expecting.

Funny thing was I asked the construction guys if they were using the same blueprints/plans from “Batman Begins” to match continuity, they said no, but as the set resembled the cave from “Begins” and I’m a detail freak who knows the movies, (right down to the waterfall entrance where the tumbler flies through) while they may have had new blueprints I could see it was the same cave from seeing the foundation beams that were iconic from the first movie. Also the stage can hold water, they’ll fill it when the quarry wall work is finished and they pull all the rigging lights up to illuminate the set.

The Dark Knight Rises will shoot in Los Angeles until October 23rd, then it’s off to New York until the end of November where filming officially wraps.

The Dark Knight Rises has been filming for about two weeks now in Los Angeles, and things have been relatively more quiet than when they were shooting in Pittsburgh. Still, shooting in public means there’s going to be photos and videos taken, and that’s what I have to share with you all today.
