Tom Hardy took a break from shooting his new movie Animal Rescue today to pose with a young fan who was dressed as Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. After watching his menacing performance last summer, it’s nice to see his softer side in real life.

Another day, another new photo from The Dark Knight Rises! Warner Bros. is releasing new photos almost daily on the official Facebook page for The Dark Knight Rises to build excitement around the December 4th Blu-ray release.

The second time [on The Dark Knight Rises] I was playing God, so I ignored him. Kicked him a bit, that kind of thing. Gary Oldman is one of my heroes, I did nothing but glean from him.

The Joker didn’t care—he just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy. Bane is not that guy. There is a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane. There is a huge orchestration of organization to his ambition. He is also a physical threat to Batman. There is nothing vague about Bane. No jokes. He’s a very clean, clear villain.

While the Joker tried to defeat Batman mentally in The Dark Knight, Bane will be his biggest physical challenge yet. We’re just about 3 months away from The Dark Knight Rises now, it’ll be here before you know it!

Update 04/12/12: 6 new photos from inside the magazine

Christian Bale was on the cover of Entertainment Weekly back in January, and he’s back in a special April issue with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. The Summer Movie Preview issue is on sale now and features some new interviews with director Christopher Nolan, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Hardy. Hardy even talks about all the criticism surrounding Bane’s voice in The Dark Knight Rises. Here are some excerpts from the Entertainment Weekly preview:

Christopher Nolan on Bane and Selina Kyle/Catwoman

[Bane] represents formidable physical strength, combined with absolute evil of intention. [Selina Kyle] has a very strong way of protecting herself and those she cares about, which implies an underlying darkness.

Tom Hardy on Bane and his voice

It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and exciting,” says Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character’s brains and Caribbean heritage. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.

Anne Hathaway on training for Catwoman

I had to physically transform,” says Hathaway, calling from London, where she’s currently shooting Les Misérables with Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. “Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, ‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.’ I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago.

Tom Hardy was on The Jonathan Ross Show this past weekend and talked about his experience working on The Dark Knight Rises. Ross asked Hardy to explain why Bane needs to wear the mask, but of course, Hardy refused to answer. Hardy went on to explain the first time he met Christian Bale, and how intimidating he looked in the Batsuit. It’s a fun interview, check it out!

Controversy has surrounded Bane’s voice ever since the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises’ prologue back in December. This has lead to many parody videos, and debate amongst Batman fans online. We haven’t heard about what Tom Hardy thinks about the criticism… until now. MTV caught up with Hardy and asked if he was concerned about the audience’s ability to understand his dialogue in The Dark Knight Rises.

Not at all. I trust [director] Christopher Nolan implicitly. I’m not worried at all about people understanding him mumbling away,” Hardy said. “But I have seen some brilliant stuff online about [my mumbling].

Tom Hardy is currently promoting his new movie This Means War, which means he’ll probably be asked about The Dark Knight Rises a lot in the coming weeks. The Press Association caught up with Hardy at the UK premiere of This Means War last night, and asked about his experience in The Dark Knight Rises and wearing the Bane mask.

Speaking at the premiere of his latest film, This Means War, Tom said: “Bane’s mask is tight, actually. I got used to it, but you get used to anything really, in time.” The actor has described the character as “brutal” and “heavy-handed”, but said that he had no problem separating himself from the role. ”I didn’t get into a dark place at all. A lot of dark characters are easy to have distance from, it’s something I feel comfortable with, I suppose.”
