Inception

Update 03/21/11: Entertainment Weekly (which is owned by Warner Bros.’ parent company Time Warner) is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not be playing Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises. Let the speculation continue…

After confirming that Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, Variety is back with another big scoop. According to the trade, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises. Alberto Falcone (aka The Holiday Killer) is the son of Carmine Falcone, who was played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins. Perhaps this is what Gary Oldman was referring to when he said that Christopher Nolan brings the story back to Batman Begins. What do you think about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s new role? Sound off in the comments!

Update: Perhaps this is still just a major rumor at this point? Jeff Sneider of Variety tweeted the following statements on Twitter:

Let me stress that NO ONE with the authority to do so has CONFIRMED this info. Not WB, not reps and certainly not Nolan or other producers. Regardless, I trust my sources & stand by my story 100%.

While this isn’t “official” news, I think we can stand by Variety’s sources and trust that we’ll see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises.
