Wow, this past year has flown by! I can’t believe I started Batman-News.com exactly one year ago today. It was Labor Day weekend 2010, and the anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises (or Batman 3, as we called it back then) was building. I was very frustrated with the Batman movie website I had been visiting for years. It was ugly, outdated, hard to navigate, and had more advertisements than actual Batman content. I decided that I was going to use my long weekend to create something better. And I did. After getting some great feedback from fans at the Superhero Hype message board, Batman-News.com was born. I stayed up all night Sunday putting it together, and it finally launched on Monday, September 6th, 2010.
My #1 goal with Batman-News.com was to create a Batman website that fans could be proud of. I wanted to start a website that fans wanted to visit, not one they had to visit. The design has evolved into what it is today, and I hope you find that it’s easy to find the Batman news you’re looking for. The Batman-News.com gallery elegantly organizes all of the official photos, wallpapers, and set photos from The Dark Knight Rises. If you haven’t already, head on over there and check it out.
This past year has been incredible, and it’s because of you, the Batman-News.com readers. The site has grown from just 10,000 hits when it launched in September 2010, to over 1,245,000 hits in August 2011. Batman-News.com has more Twitter followers, more Facebook fans, and gets more traffic than any other Batman news website online. I’d like to personally thank every website that’s ever linked to Batman-News.com, Vin from the largest TDKR Facebook fan page, and every reader who has ever shared an article with their friends on Twitter and Facebook. Thank you!
So what’s next? Well, The Dark Knight Rises will be here before we know it! Next year at this time, Batman-News.com will be more than just a movie news website. It’ll cover comics, video games, and everything in-between. Running this website has been fun, yet challenging… but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy 1st birthday Batman-News.com! Here’s to many more!
