Batman: Arkham Unhinged #10 review

This might very well be the best Arkham Unhinged issue, yet. And if you haven’t read any of the other stories or are unsure about digital comics in general, this is a great way to dip your toe into the waters so to speak because #10 is a standalone issue.

So what’s the story here? Well, did you buy the variant costumes for Batman in the Arkham City video game? There was a Batman Year One costume, Dark Knight Returns, 1970s Neil Adams Batman, etc., etc. it’s a fun download, but it’s $5 with no other additional content. Either way, writer Derek Fridolfs found a way to write a one-shot story taking place in the Arkhamverse that explains how all of these other Batman incarnations work in the story and make sense.

One of the most fun things about Batman: Arkham Unhinged is how there seems to be a different artist on the project every 3 weeks or so and we get to see different art styles. Well issue #10’s artist Pete Woods definitely had his work cut out for him this month because he had to draw Batman in several unique ways that mimicked everything from Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns to the Animated Series’ Batman Beyond and he did an amazing job.

Worth a Buck or Not?

Most definitely. This is a fun, interesting issue with great, detailed art, a self contained story, and plenty of cameos if you scan the background carefully. This series has definitely bounced back after a 3 week lull and is totally worth your hard-earned dollar.
