‘The Dark Knight Rises’ makes $160.9 million in first opening weekend

The Dark Knight Rises had a record breaking weekend at the box office, pulling in $160.9 million in just three days. This makes it the biggest opening ever for a 2D title, beating The Dark Knight’s $158.4 million opening, and the third-biggest debut overall domestically — trailing just The Avengers ($207.4 million) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($169.2 million). The Dark Knight Rises also made $88 million internationally, bringing its total gross to $249 million… all from just one weekend! The Dark Knight Rises gets better every time I see it and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit that $1 billion mark by the time it leaves theaters later this summer.
