Upcoming Comics: October 17th, 2012

This week there’s Trinity War prelude, Death of the Family prelude, and Lady Shiva action to look forward to. A few other comics are coming out as well like Birds of Prey, Red Hood & the Outlaws, and Batwoman, but I don’t review those since they are fringe Bat-titles and if I reviewed everything that was slightly related to Batman I would go crazy.

Here’s a list of all the Batman comics coming out this week, October 17th, graded on a scale of my own anticipation.

None.  –   I’ll get to it…eventually   –   Eh…meh.  –  Bring it.  –  TAKE MY MONEY

Scroll to the bottom of the page and post in the comments section what books you’re most looking forward to this week!

October 17th

CATWOMAN #13

Written by ANN NOCENTI

Art by ADRIANA MELO and JULIO FERREIRA

Cover by ANDY CLARKE

32 pg, $2.99

Anticipation Level:   None.

The DC website says that this story will be about Catwoman stealing another person and that the true origin of Selina Kyle will be revealed. Unless that true origin negates what happened in issue #0 I couldn’t really care less. Ann Nocenti’s debut last month with Catwoman #0 was one of the worst comics I have reviewed (Through the Looking Glass was the least pleasant bat-comic experience I’ve had so far). This issue is also supposed to be a prelude to the upcoming Death of the Family storyline but… honestly it’s going to take a lot for me to clear my mind and approach this book with fresh eyes after the abortion that was Catwoman #0.

NIGHTWING #13

Written by TOM DEFALCO

Art by ANDRES GUINALDO

Cover by ANDRES GUINALDO

32 pg, $2.99

Anticipation Level:   Bring it.

Seeing as how I just read and reviewed Knightfall Vol. 3 I’m more than ready to see some more of Lady Shiva as she makes her New 52 debut (not counting flashbacks). Nightwing is one of the most consistently good titles that I review around here so I’m looking forward to this as always. I just hope that nothing gets cut short to make way for the upcoming crossover event.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #13

Written by GEOFF JOHNS

Art and cover by TONY S. DANIEL and RICHARD FRIEND

Backup story art by GARY FRANK

Variant cover by CAMERON STEWART

1:100 B&W Variant cover by TONY S. DANIEL

40 pg, $3.99, Combo pack edition: $4.99

Anticipation Level:   Bring it.

The much hyped Trinity War event is coming soon and this issue promises to really get the ball rolling on that. We also get to see Tony Daniel’s pencils again so that’ll be nice, but most of all fans of Wonder Woman will be thrilled to see Cheetah make her New 52 debut. I’m most looking forward to the Shazam backup.

Graphic Novel Watch!

There aren’t any new Batman graphic novels out this week, but now that I’ve got Knightfall Vol. 3 out of the way I’ll be able to review Batman: The Dark Knight, Vol. 1: Knight Terrors, Batman Odyssey Hardcover, and Nightwing Vol. 1. So be on the lookout for those articles popping up throughout the week.
