Only two Batman comics are coming out this week, folks. Learn about Scarecrow’s childhood some more in Batman: The Dark Knight and in Batman Inc. we (finally) get back to the central plot as Damian becomes “Redbird”. Talon #1 also comes out this week so you might want to check it out as well. I reviewed issue #0 last month and thought it was pretty good, but it’s also distanced itself enough from the other Bat-titles that I’ll only be reviewing the rest of the series in TPB form.
Here’s a list of all the Batman comics coming out this week, October 24th, graded on a scale of my own anticipation.
None. – I’ll get to it…eventually – Eh…meh. – Bring it. – TAKE MY MONEY

I don’t remember what happened in the last issue. I remember Batman was being tortured by Scarecrow and we got a glimpse into both Bruce’s and Jonathan’s childhood…but that’s about it. I don’t remember it being a bad issue either, I think it’s just that Zero Month threw me off with a few of these titles and I’m forgetting what was going on. I suspect Batman will still be tied up in this issue and we’ll learn even more about Scarecrow’s origin story. Should be alright.
BATMAN, INCORPORATED #4

1:100 B&W Variant cover by CHRIS BURNHAM
32 pg, $2.99 US

Anticipation Level: Bring it.
Issue #1 progressed the story, issue #2 told Talia’s origin, then we took a month-long break, #3 finally came out and progressed the story, #0 recapped the first volume, and now we get to finally move forward. Damian as “Redbird” teams up with Wingman to rescue Bruce, who is disguised as Matches Malone. That’s what was going on, right? Man, Zero Month really messed up the flow of some of these titles, didn’t it? Anyway, I’m quite excited to see what happens next because 1-3 were all fantastic issues, I just wish that the story would stay on track! And even though focus is regained here in issue #4, the next one coming out in November will go into the future for another Damian Batman 666 adventure to derail the main plot once again. I feel that if Batman Inc. hadn’t been forced to do a #0 issue and it hadn’t taken that 1 month break things would be coming along just fine and I wouldn’t be getting annoyed but at least it’s not an annoyance over the series’ quality, just that it’s not moving along as quickly as it should.
Graphic Novel Watch!
Huntress: Crossbow at the Crossroads comes out. It was an alright story and the artwork was nice too, but it also has a low re-read value. Still, if you’re a fan of World’s Finest then it’s a must-buy. If my reviews of Nightwing Vol. 1 or Batman Odyssey haven’t been posted before this Upcoming Comics article went live then expect to see both of those posted before Wednesday gets here.
