Batman: Li’l Gotham #1 review

This. Was. Adorable!

It’s a great read for long time fans, casual fans, kids and adults alike. Unless you hate fun, you owe it to yourself to head on over to Comixology.com and buy this comic for $1 buck. One dollar, that’s all it costs! This comic is written by Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs and illustrated by Nguyen, the same team that does the wonderful Justice League Beyond series which comes out both digitally and in print as Batman Beyond: Unlimited. Only instead of the typical style we see from Nguyen in that series, Li’l Gotham features his delightful watercolors and man does it look good! You can tell how much fun he must’ve had on every page of this vibrantly colored comic.

The image below basically sums up what this issue is all about. It’s Batman and Robin, walking around Gotham on Halloween. Damian goes trick or treating for the first time and we see how the villains blow off some steam on the one night when nobody looks at them weird or worse, calls the cops. It’s wonderfully funny and a must-read for longtime Batman fans. How could you not love Professor Batman explaining Halloween?

This was a beautifully illustrated comic and an all around great time. Best of all, it’s not going to be the last we see of this fun, lighthearted Batman & Damian. These Li’l Gotham shorts will be released every holiday from here on out so come back on November 15th to enjoy a Thanksgiving adventure!
