Upcoming Comics: December 5th, 2012

Ready to take a break from your The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray/DVD watching and get back to some comics? Good! This week we have a Batman villain get-together in Detective Comics, Batwing goes through damage control as it changes writers mid-arc, and Legends of the Dark Knight promises to be another great break from New 52 continuity.

Here’s a list of all the Batman comics coming out this week, December 5th, graded on a scale of my own anticipation.

None.  –   I’ll get to it…eventually   –   Eh…meh.  –  Bring it.  –  TAKE MY MONEY

December 5th

DETECTIVE COMICS #15

Written by JOHN LAYMAN

Backup story art by ANDY CLARKE

Cover by GREG CAPULLO

1:25 B&W Variant cover by GREG CAPULLO

40 pg, $3.99 US • RATED T

Combo pack edition: $4.99 US

Anticipation Level:   Bring it.

This issue is absolutely packed with villains. Not only is it a Death of the Family tie-in with the Joker, but it promises to feature the Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Clayface as well. John Layman and Jason Fabok have been doing a great job with their run so far so I’m looking forward to this one.

BATWING #15

Written by FABIAN NICIEZA

Art by MARCUS TO and RYAN WINN

Cover by MARCUS TO

32 pg, $2.99 US • RATED T

Anticipation Level:   None.

Judd Winick has left the Batwing title without finishing up the three-part Father Lost arc leaving the new series writer, Fabian Nicieza, to clean things up here in the final installment. There’s apparently a fill-in artist on this one as well so the whole thing sounds like a comic that nobody was passionate about making which means I couldn’t really care less about it either. Here’s hoping Fabian Nicieza pulls this story out of a nosedive.

LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #3

Written by STEVE NILES

Art by TREVOR HAIRSINE

Cover by MARCUS TO

40 pg, $3.99 US • RATED T

Anticipation Level:   TAKE MY MONEY

Another Joker story?! Trust me, it’s going to be okay. I remember reading this one when it came out digitally and thinking the same thing but it turns out that placing this Joker story immediately after last month’s is perfect timing. I can’t wait to read this again.
