A party, a trip to the zoo, and a wedding– why, it must be Batman comics! Get ready for some more Death of the Family, particularly Snyder and Capullo’s Batman which is actually driving this story along. And if you’re getting tired of seeing Joker’s face (or lack-thereof) everywhere then you could always check out Arkham Unhinged for the origin of the video game version of Deadshot.
Here’s a list of all the Batman comics coming out this week, January 16th graded on a scale of my own anticipation.

I really want to know what’s going on inside Arkham Asylum. My guess is that Joker is going to give Batman a Friar’s Club Roast or he’s taking the “King’s Court” metaphor literally and giving the madhouse and its inhabitants a medieval makeover. It’s been fun to think about but sadly my excitement has waned– I’ve got Joker fatigue and am just ready for this to end. It’s a shame, I know, but after all the repetitive tie-ins that didn’t really go anywhere I’m just ready for this thing to end. Folks who read Batman and Batman alone are probably still enjoying themselves though.
BATMAN AND ROBIN #16

Last month’s issue was terrific, but it ended on kind of a weird note with Damian being forced to fight…Batman? Likely someone dressed up as Batman, but either way it’s kind of odd and I’d like to see Joker stop playing with his food and monologuing for a change and just stab one of these kids so it feels like he means it.
BATGIRL #16

Put on your Sunday’s finest, kids, we’re going to church for the Barbara Gordon and Joker wedding. Even with my sever case of Joker-fatigue it’s kind of hard to not be curious about how this is going to play out.
BATMAN: ARKHAM UNHINGED #10

Good News: We get a Bat-title this week that doesn’t have anything to do with Death of the Family. Bad News: That book is Arkham Unhinged. You get a lot of pages for your $2.99, sure, but almost every issue of this series has ranged from terrible to mediocre. I can think of one…maybe two issues that would be worth re-reading again someday, but everything else simply hasn’t been worth checking out. Hopefully this month is different though since we’re finally going to address some characters who were underused in the video game! The origin of Deadshot? Sounds like a great concept, the sort of story that this series should be doing all the time: taking something we barely scratched the surface of in the games and elaborating on it. Let’s cross our fingers!
