Dick Grayson is in for a world of hurt, Tim and Jason try to escape from captivity, the Justice League goes to war with the armies of Atlantis, and Catwoman is…well let’s just avoid that comic at all costs. Here’s a list of all the Batman comics coming out this week, January 23rd graded on a scale of my own anticipation.

January 23rd
NIGHTWING #16

Art by EDDY BARROWS and EBER FERREIRA
Cover by EDDY BARROWS
32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
ANTICIPATION LEVEL: Interested
Everything burns. Watch as Nightwing’s entire world comes crashing down around him.
RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #16
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by TIMOTHY GREEN II
Cover by TYLER KIRKHAM and BATT
32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
ANTICIPATION LEVEL: I’d rather not
Scott Lobdell’s contribution to the Death of the Family saga has been the most disappointing by far. Tim Drake barely even made an appearance in Teen Titans #15 and I hardly remember what happened in Red Hood #15. Now that Tim and Jason are in the same room together the story might actually improve but I’m not going to get my hopes up. In fact, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if we end up spending more time with Starfire, Roy, and the Teen Titans than any of the Bat Family.
CATWOMAN #16
Written by ANN NOCENTI
Art and cover by RAFA SANDOVAL and JORDI TARRAGONA
32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
ANTICIPATION LEVEL: Hell no!
Selina Kyle is posessed by the power of Eclipso annnnd…. I have no idea how anyone could be excited for this comic. It’s terrible. I really want to drop it from the review rotation but at the same time I feel that we Batman fans need to raise Cain about this or who knows how much longer it will continue. The dialogue is terrible, the storytelling make no sense, and it’s…for God’s sake everyone responsible for that cat-resurrection-origin story should’ve been fired.
JUSTICE LEAGUE #16
Written by GEOFF JOHNS
Art by IVAN REIS & GARY FRANK
40 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T
ANTICIPATION LEVEL: TAKE MY MONEY
If you read Justice League #15 and Aquaman #15 last month then I don’t know how you could not be excited for this. Atlantis is invading the east coast, the US government is creating a Justice League of their own to fight back, and Aquaman might be joining his kingdom in the battle! It’s exciting stuff but best of all, the Shazam backup. I look forward to reading the ongoing Shazam story every month. It’s really terrific and deserving of its own series.
