‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ announced, coming this October (video)

Update: First ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ screenshots, plot details, and more

The next installment in the Batman:Arkham video game series has been officially announced. Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on October 25th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. The game is being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, not Rocksteady — the studio who developed Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. WB Montreal will have full access to all of Rocksteady’s code, so hopefully players won’t even notice that a different company is making the game.

The May issue of Game Informer features Batman on the cover (with Deathstroke on the back), and has all the official details about Batman: Arkham Origins. As you might have been able to tell from the title, the game takes place before Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The game is takes place over the course of one night — Christmas Eve. You’ll just be playing as a “young, unrefined” Batman as you battle eight classic villains, most of which Batman is meeting for the first time.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgatea companion game to the console version, will also be released on October 25th for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

Stay tuned to Batman News for all the latest on Batman: Arkham Orgins and check out the May issue of Game Informer for more details.
