Joss Whedon: ‘I want to make a Batman movie’

The Avengers director Joss Whedon was at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in NYC last night to screen his adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. After the screening there was a Q&A session and Whedon was asked which Marvel character he’d like to bring to the big screen. Whedon’s answer surprised a lot of people:

If I could get my hands on absolutely anybody it would be Batman. He’s a Marvel character in the DC universe.

This isn’t the first time Whedon has expressed interest in a Batman movie. In the early 2000’s he pitched Warner Bros. on his vision of a Batman reboot, but they ended up turning him down and going with another young director named Christopher Nolan.

After the success of The Avengers I think the chances of us seeing a Joss Whedon Batman movie are slim, but it’s cool that he’s such a big fan of the character. Would you like to see his take on Batman? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
