Former Robin Damian Wayne is returning to DC Comics, just months after he was killed off in the highly publicized Batman Inc. #8. However, he’s not being brought back from the dead…yet. Damian will be appearing in a four-issue miniseries titled Damian: Son of Batman, which will take place in a “possible future that may never be.” The new series will be written and drawn by Andy Kubert, who co-created the character back in 2006.
The NY Post broke the news and had a chance to talk to Kubert. Here’s what he had to say:
I had a big affinity for Damian when I drew Batman issue #666 (in 2007). I really liked that Batman and always wanted to revisit him. Damian is a bit different than the ‘Bruce Wayne’ Batman. Grant Morrison tweaked his character in a way that made it very endearing for me to draw. And to write.
Basically, what I’m doing is exploring the path that Damian has taken to become Batman. I think readers will see him in a different light than before.
The first issue of Damian: Son of Batman will be available on October 30th. Are you excited? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
