8. Bat-Nipples – Batman Forever & Batman and Robin
There are plenty of awful things to single out the Joel Schumacher Batman films for, but one creative decision that is just confusing more than terrible is the choice to give Batman, Robin and Batgirl bat-nipples on their suits. Sandwiched between the sleek cool of Michael Keaton’s stylish Batman suit and the gritty practicality of Christian Bale’s body armor, we have these cheesy, campy get-ups.
The main question is just – why? What practical point does adding nipples to the suit provide? More to the point, given that in these movies we see Alfred designing the costumes, would this not have been a product of his work? Why? It looks ridiculous, and more to the point, is completely distracting.
