Warner Bros. reportedly seeking older Batman for ‘Batman vs. Superman’

Update 8/3/13: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, and Joe Manganiello up for Batman in ‘Batman vs. Superman’

According to a new report from Batman on Film, Warner Bros. is seeking an older Batman for 2015’s Batman vs. Superman movie. They want someone in their mid-40s to portray a “grizzled veteran” version of Batman. This definitely jives with the whole “The Dark Knight Returns” theme that’s been present since the big announcement. Just earlier this week, it was reported that Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder was going to meet with “The Dark Knight Returns” writer Frank Miller for advice on tackling a Batman/Superman movie.

Personally, I hope this rumor is true. People keep asking me who I’d like to see as Batman and I don’t have anyone in particular in mind. I just know that I would prefer an actor in his late to mid-40s, rather than a 20-something year old “pretty boy”. Some popular suggestions I’ve seen online are Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm, Ben Affleck, and Jim Caviezel. You know who else will be turning 40 early next year? Christian Bale. I’m not ready to let that go yet…

Who would you cast as an older, veteran Batman? Let me know in the comments below!
