‘Batman vs. Superman’ production to start in February, Detroit may be Gotham City

A few small Batman vs. Superman stories broke over the weekend, but I wanted to wait for all the Ben Affleck casting excitement to die down before I reported on them. Let’s check ’em out!

First up is something I forgot to mention in my post about THR’s inside information about the Affleck deal. Ben Affleck will begin work next month on Gone Girl, a new movie he’s starring in. That will shoot until February, and then he’ll be free to begin Batman vs. Superman. Though, according to US Weekly, Affleck has already begun preparation. They claim that he’s been working out two hours a day to prepare for his Batman role. THR says that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel will be in production from February to August. Those set photos will be here before you know it!

Next, according to sources at Latino Review, Detroit, Michigan is being scouted as a possible location for Gotham City in Batman vs. Superman. Michigan is attracting a lot of Hollywood movies due to its generous tax incentives — Michael Bay’s Transformers 4 is currently shooting there. The country of Morocco is also reportedly a possible location. Latino Review speculates that the Moroccan desert could be where Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor discover the radioactive meteorite known as kryptonite. Last month it was reported that a lot of filming will be done in Toronto, Canada too.

I think we’re all caught up on Batman vs. Superman news. A lot of small, but exciting news stories here. Be sure to leave your thoughts on Detroit, Morroco, and everything else in the comments below.
