Bryan Cranston addresses those ridiculous Lex Luthor rumors

Breaking Bad

I can’t even tell you the amount of emails and tweets I’ve received over the past week ago, telling me that Bryan Cranston had been cast as Lex Luthor in 2015’s Batman vs. Superman. Since day one here on Batman News I’ve made it a priority to only post news and rumors from reliable sources. There’s no point in getting everyone excited over a bogus rumor that’ll never come true.

The rumor that Bryan Cranston had been cast as Lex Luthor came from a very unreliable source. In fact, this source has a track record of posting fake rumors and it was embarrassing to see that it got picked up by just about every major movie website. The rumor said that Cranston signed on to play Luthor in six upcoming movies. It got so out of control, that Cranston himself was asked about it in a recent interview with Boston.com. Here’s what he had to say:

I’ve heard that too. Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.

Now, Cranston as Luthor is still a possibility. A few weeks ago a rumor from a reliable source stated that Warner Bros. was interested in the Breaking Bad star. Cranston told Boston.com that he has a couple more projects in the pipeline and then he plans to relax for the rest of the year. Sounds like he’d definitely be available if Warner Bros. decides to give him a call.

So that’s the latest on Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor. He hasn’t been cast as Lex Luthor… we still don’t even know if Lex Luthor will be in the movie, though it’s very likely. With filming scheduled to start in Michigan early next year, more casting news (and hopefully an official title) will be out very soon. As always, you can count on Batman News to deliver the best coverage of Batman vs. Superman. Stay tuned!
