Warner Bros. studio CEO Kevin Tsujihara (pictured, right) held a press conference today and he was asked about Ben Affleck’s casting in Batman vs. Superman. Tsujihara said that Affleck is “perfect” for the role, and explained that this Batman will be “tired, and kind of weary and seasoned”. He continued:
Ben is perfect for the vision Zack has for that character. The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character.
“Passionate response”… I guess that’s one way of putting it! Tsujihara teased that more DC Superhero-related announcements will be made in the coming months. As always, stay tuned to Batman News for the latest!
Update 09/16/13: A full transcript from the press conference is now online, and there’s an interesting quote that slipped under the radar the other day. We still don’t have an official title for the 2015 Batman/Superman movie, but even Warner Bros.’ CEO is calling it Batman vs. Superman. “We have Batman versus Superman coming out in 2015”, he said. At this point I don’t think we should be surprised if that’s named the official title in the coming weeks.
Update #2: Later on in the conversation, the Warner Bros.’ CEO says that they haven’t titled the movie yet:
Batman, in the movie we haven’t titled it yet and we are really excited about the fact that we were able to convince Ben to play Batman.
I guess everyone, from online websites to the Warner Bros. CEO, has settled on Batman vs. Superman as a temporary titled. Stay tuned to Batman News for the upcoming official title announcement.
