Rumor: Ben Affleck wants friend Larry David in ‘Batman vs. Superman’

Everyone is waiting to see who gets cast as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman, but a new report from Radar Online suggests that a different Superman villain could be in the movie. They say that Ben Affleck is pushing to get his friend Larry David cast, and speculate that the role could be for Mr. Mxyzptlk. Radar Online went in more detail about what they heard from their insider:

The pair chatted about the idea with earnest abandon throughout the course of Emmy weekend. Larry has long been courted by the big budget superhero industrial complex, being linked to roles in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man sequels nearly a decade ago,” the insider revealed.

“But Ben is somebody he trusts and enjoys spending time with and this could be the right situation for Larry to finally appear in a huge-grossing hit film. Fun speculation that it could be for the famed Superman enemy role of Mr. [Mxyzptlk] could make this piece more exciting, since Larry is a dead ringer for the character.”

“Ben and his personality are taking over this whole production — he could come out of this with a producer credit,” the source said.

That last line is interesting… it sounds like Ben Affleck is using his Oscar winning director talent to help out with much more than the Bruce Wayne/Batman character in Batman vs. Superman.

Larry David is best known for his role in Curb Your Enthusiasm and for being the head writer and executive producer of Seinfeld. If this rumor turns out to be true, would you like to see him as Mr. Mxyzptlk? What about Alfred? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Update: Larry David as Mr. Mxyzptlk is just speculation by Radar Online’s source. I’ve updated the title to reflect this.
