It’s time to say farewell to one of the best Batman titles. Although legends of our Caped Crusader will continue to be told online every Thursday as a DC Digital First, I’m sorry to say that issue #13 shall be the last of the printed single issues of Legends of the Dark Knight… at least until December when it will return with a higher page count and a lengthier title, Legends of the Dark Knight 100-Page Super Spectacular #1.
Legends of the Dark Knight is an anthology series that features rotating creative teams telling stories about Batman that take place outside of any sort of continuity. No two issues are alike and anything goes in Legends of the Dark Knight. It’s a terrific showcase of new and seasoned talent and an easily accessible read for casual and hardcore Batman fans. You can read a review of the first TPB volume of Legends of the Dark Knight HERE.
The 13th and final printed issue features the following two stories:
Return of Batman by Peter Milligan & Riccardo Burchielli is the second part of a tale that began in issue #12. It is about a Bruce Wayne who loses much of his fortune and his gadgetry and must get back to crime-fighting basics if he is to save Gotham from the wrath of Ra’s al Ghul and the League of Assassins.
Unlucky 13 by Tim Seeley and Freddie Williams II is a more lighthearted and considerably shorter tale that promises to close out the printed run of Legends of the Dark Knight with a bit of fun as Batman spends an evening with one of Gotham’s most unlucky crooks.
