Fan-favorite character, Stephanie Brown, will return in issue #3 of the weekly series Batman: Eternal. Earlier today at New York Comic-Con’s DC All-Access Panel, a fan asked whether Stephanie Brown would return in the New 52 and Scott Snyder, the writer of Batman, replied that the fan should try asking again at the Batman panel. Well, the time of the Batman panel and it’s Q&A session finally arrived and with it so did the question of when will Stephanie Brown or Cassandra Cain be coming back? This time Scott Snyder gave a clear answer:
You guys’ love of Stephanie Brown has been so inspiring to us. We’re really proud to announce that she’ll be coming back in [Batman: Eternal] in a big way! Dan Didio is in the audience to yell at us for telling you that. No one was trying to shelve her. It was more about finding the right time to reintroduce her.
Talon author, James Tynion IV, came up with the idea for bringing Stephanie Brown back into the New 52 and her return will likely be as Spoiler, not Batgirl. Of course, this all raises quite a few questions about how closely the New 52 Stephanie Brown can be to the character the fans fell in loved with all those years ago. The New 52 doesn’t feature many of the same elements that birthed the Spoiler originally. Her close ties to Tim Drake will most certainly be different what with Tim’s origin being so radically altered back in Teen Titans #0.
Are you excited to hear that Stephanie is back? What do you think the best way is to go about reintroducing the character?
