Warner Bros. has a first draft of ‘Batman vs. Superman’ script

Variety published a fantastic piece on Hollywood producer Charles Roven today. Roven has been a part of a number of successful movies including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Man of Steel. Roven will be back as producer of Batman vs. Superman and revealed a few interesting facts about the new movie. The first thing worth mentioning is that he called the movie Batman vs. Superman. This is still the unofficial title, but everyone has been calling it that — even Warner Bros. executives and employees.

Roven revealed that Warner Bros. began talks about a Batman/Superman movie shortly after Man of Steel hit theaters last summer. He said that they currently have their first draft of the Batman vs. Superman script and they’re continuing to work on it. Roven also had some kind words for our new Batman, Ben Affleck:

We wanted a guy who had a certain age and a certain gravitas to what he had done in terms of his recent work. If you take a look at ‘The Town’ and ‘Argo,’ he plays a couple of serious guys in those movies. He’s a big man. He’s also a mature man. As you see him and Henry [Cavill] together, one definitely has much more experience just by looking at him. That’s what we wanted, particularly juxtaposed against our Superman.

Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to begin production in Detroit in February of next year. They previously shot a small football scene at East Los Angeles College. Oh, and don’t worry. Justin Bieber isn’t going to be anywhere near this movie. For more on the photo above, check out this article.
