Zack Snyder talks ‘Batman vs. Superman’ and Ben Affleck

Zack Snyder chatted with French magazine Popcorn about 300: Rise Of An Empire, which he produced. Naturally, Batman vs. Superman was brought up as well. Thanks to a translation by a Comic Book Therapy reader, here’s what Snyder had to say…

Zack Snyder on Ben Affleck as Batman:

Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world.

Zack Snyder on if Batman vs. Superman will be a direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns:

No. But the comic book will influence the history of Batman vs. Superman, on which the writer David S. Goyer and myself will work.

The translation is a little rough on that last quote, Snyder basically reiterated that Batman vs. Superman is its own original story but the relationship between between Batman and Superman will be influenced by Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns”.
