‘Gotham’ director hopes to tell Mr. Freeze’s origin

At a recent Gotham preview event, HitFix caught up with the pilot episode’s director Danny Cannon. Cannon explained that he’s already working on a pitch for Gotham creator Bruno Heller and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns to let him tell the origin of Mr. Freeze. Gotham will follow the career of a young James Gordon and tell the origin stories of DC’s most popular villains when it premieres this fall on FOX.

HitFix: As you look out across the first season, is there a moment that you’re already anticipating that you’re gonna want to get back behind the camera for?

Danny Cannon: I have a big pitch with Bruno about the Mr. Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain. If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realized.

If and when Mr. Freeze shows up in Gotham, he’ll join villains like the Penguin, Catwoman, mob boss Fish Mooney, the Joker, and more. Check out a new teaser that highlights the pilot episode villains below.
