Warner Bros. hires two writers for Aquaman movie

THR is reporting that Will Beall, who wrote Gangster Squad, and Kurt Johnstad, who wrote 300: Rise of an Empire, have been hired by Warner Bros. to write two separate Aquaman scripts. Warner Bros. will choose the script they like best for an upcoming Aquaman movie. Last week Warner Bros. announced 9 untitled DC movies and release dates, it’ll be interesting to see where Aquaman fits in.

  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – 03/25/16
  • Untitled DC Film – 08/05/16
  • Untitled DC Film – 06/23/17
  • Untitled DC Film – 11/17/17
  • Untitled DC Film – 03/23/18
  • Untitled DC Film – 07/27/18
  • Untitled DC Film – 04/05/19
  • Untitled DC Film – 06/14/19
  • Untitled DC Film – 04/03/20
  • Untitled DC Film – 06/19/20

Warner Bros. hired Will Beall for a Justice League script in 2012, but it was scrapped the following year with sources calling it “terrible”. It sounds like he’ll get another crack at writing a DC Comics movie now.

Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it looks like Warner Bros. hopes to give him a movie of his own in the near future as well.
