Sorry Liam Neeson, ‘Arrow’ casts its Ra’s al Ghul

Just days after Liam Neeson was asked if he’d like to play Ra’s al Ghul on Arrow, Australian actor Matt Nable has landed the role. Arrow star Stephen Amell made the announcement on Twitter:

Nable is probably best known for starring in 2013’s Riddick with the Batman-hating Vin Diesel.

In Arrow, Ra’s Al Ghul is described as the leader of the League of Assassins and father of Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law). Ra’s is proud and unforgiving. A ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts and a shaper of history, Ra’s carries the wisdom of the ages and protects some of its greatest secrets.

Nable’s Ra’s al Ghul will be a main character in the upcoming season of Arrow and will make his debut in the fourth episode, “The Magician”.
