With Gotham having a strong premiere earlier this week and TNT developing a (Teen) Titans series which will see Nightwing take the lead, it’s a good time to be a DC Comics fan, and more specifically a Batman one. Elsewhere, we have Arrow, Constantine and The Flash to enjoy, with Supergirl coming to television at some point as well.
Warner Bros. and DC are making big steps to take over television, and with a number of movies dated between 2016 and 2020, Marvel are quickly finding that they have some very serious competition from the rival comics publisher.
With Warner Bros. developing an online Justice League series, you have to imagine that they have plenty of other projects in the works, and the Batman corner of the DC Universe if packed full of potentially amazing TV shows which could offer fans and non-fans alike a really unique and interesting experience. As always, let us know your thoughts on these in the usual place!
10. Batwoman
All comic book fans agree that there’s a serious lack of female superheroes in movies and on TV in leading roles, and so Batwoman quickly emerges as a worthy character to be given her own series. As a member of the Department of Extranormal Operations, her adventures are often very unique, while the fact that Kate Kane is openly gay would also help to make this series stand out as something new and exciting. Her sexuality plays a big role in Batwoman’s life and exploring that in a series would be just as interesting as her costumed adventures when she dons the cape and cowl. She also doesn’t have any major ties to Batman (at least not any which couldn’t easily be retconned or altered to some extent), making Batwoman one of the easiest characters to bring to the small screen without interfering with Warner Bros.’ movie plans.
