Jared Leto won’t deny that he’s the Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’

For the second time since being rumored to play the Joker in Suicide Squad, Jared Leto has neither confirmed nor denied the news. Last week, Leto spoke to MTV and said “You know there is a film called ‘Fight Club’ my friend, and you know what the first rule is don’t you”, when asked about the Joker rumor. The first rule of fight club is “you do not talk about fight club”, of course.

Now in a new profile by The Hollywood Reporter, Leto has responded to the Joker rumors once more, this time by simply saying “I’ve sworn to keep my mouth shut”. Leto’s refusal to say anything about the rumor certainly adds some weight to it being true. We’ll have to wait and see if he does decide to sign the dotted line and take on the role that Heath Ledger reinvented in The Dark Knight.

Suicide Squad begins production in Canada in April, so expect to hear some official casting announcements early next year. Margot Robbie has already reportedly signed on as Harley Quinn, and Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Jai Courtney are currently in talks for lead roles. Jesse Eisenberg will likely reprise his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice role as Lex Luthor.

Suicide Squad is being directed by David Ayer and is scheduled to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
