This could be one of the biggest spoilers to come out so far, though it actually has little to do with the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice story. Still, if knowing too much isn’t your thing, head on back to the Batman News homepage or check out our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide.
There’s a lot of Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Part of the movie takes place in Gotham, you have the Dark Knight himself, and Alfred has a small role as well. Everyone seems to be there except for Commission Gordon, and Badass Digest claims they know why. According to the new rumor, Gordon is already dead when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice begins, and all that’s mentioned is a memorial plaque in his name. That would explain why there weren’t any Gordon casting rumors during production, which just wrapped last week.
I don’t think this is big Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice news, since Gordon is just an afterthought, but it could definitely have a huge impact on the new DC universe that Warner Bros. is building. Can you imagine a Batman movie without Gordon? Warner Bros. has already said that a solo Batman movie is coming before 2020, and it’ll be interesting to see which direction they go. Perhaps it will be prequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and we’ll find out exactly what happened to Gordon?
It should be noted that this is a big rumor until we get confirmation, which probably won’t happen until March 25th, 2016 when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters. But Badass Digest has been very reliable in the past, and there’s no reason to doubt them now. What do you make of this rumor? Are you disappointed about a potential new Batman universe without Commissioner Gordon? Let me know in the comments below.
