Christian Bale has more Batman advice for Ben Affleck

Last year Christian Bale said the only piece of advice he had for Ben Affleck about playing Batman was to make sure he could “take a piss” without anyone needing to help him out of the suit. In a new interview with NY Daily News, Bale stands by that advice and offers some more.

The first one was, ‘Be able to take a piss by yourself,’ ” says Bale, who played the Caped Crusader in three Batman films, yet struggled for relief in the rubber costume. “I found it to be ridiculously unheroic between takes when I said, ‘Excuse me, I need to pee, could somebody undo me please?’ ”

“Secondly, tell the costume designer to make sure the cowl doesn’t feel like the Joker is sitting on your shoulders every time you try to turn your head. It took three people 20 minutes with tools in order to take that cowl off (my) head,” says Bale.

Costume designers tried to make it easier for Bale to turn his head in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises by separating the cowl and neck pieces. Ben Affleck’s cowl looks like a throwback to the style used in Batman Begins and previous Batman movies, so it’ll be interesting to see just how much movement he has in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Bale recently expressed that he was a bit jealous when he heard that Affleck had been cast as Batman. He opened up about that comment to NY Daily News as well. “The baton has been passed, that’s the nature of Batman,” Bale says. “Of course, it was passed a lot quicker than I expected, but I completely understand.”
