Upcoming Comics: December 31, 2014

I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVED my Christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Boxing Day – whatever you celebrate, whenever you celebrate – I hope you enjoyed it! I got some pretty awesome Batman swag as well! One of my gifts was the Visual History of Batman, so I’m pretty darn excited to give that a good skim, but everything was pretty awesome. Other than that, I got some Bat-clothes (socks, pajama pants, tee shirt), a The Dark Knight Rises collector’s edition Blue Ray, and some other little nic-nacs. If you have any pics of your swag, post them in the comments section!

As for this week, we have another holiday as we ring in 2015! 2014 was probably one of my most challenging years (although joining the Batman-News family has been a major highlight), but everything seems to have fallen into place these past few months, and I’m ready to take on this new year! I’m going to celebrate with my friends, but I hate champagne, so I’ll just have a little whiskey instead (What? I’m from Texas.) It also appears that DC might have expected some people to be a little tipsy as well, because we only have three releases that we’re covering this week…Yep… three. So, if you’ve been wanting to look into a title you haven’t been reading, this might be the perfect time.

This week’s releases are listed in order of what I’m most excited to read, to what I’m least excited to read. For each title, I’ll include the official solicitation, the talent credits, more of my randomness, and the Batman News team member that will be covering each book. And of course, I (we) want to hear from you! What titles are you picking up? What do you hope to see? And what are your thoughts about the order of my list? So, without further ado…

December 31st

Batman Eternal 39
Batman Eternal #39
Someone has pieced together the mystery behind the plot to crush Gotham City…but it’s not Batman! The Riddler knows all – and he’ll never tell!

Art by: Ramon Perez
Cover by: Tommy Lee Edwards
Written by: Scott Snyder, Tim Seeley, Kyle Higgins, Ray Fawkes, James T Tynion IV

Random Blurb of Excitement: Owl! There’s an owl! It’s a freaking owl!… That’s essentially what my inner child yells every time I see this cover. The past few issues have been a little rough, but I expect that the plot will pick back up with this issue. Plus, we have the Riddler making an appearance as well.

Worlds End 13
Earth 2: World’s End #13
Will Huntress become a casualty of war?

Art by: Eduardo Pansica, Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Jack Herbert, Tyler Kirkham
Cover by: Jae Lee
Written by: Mike Johnson, Marguerite Bennett, Daniel H. Wilson

Random Blurb of Excitement: This book has gotten better the past few weeks, so I’m thankful for that. I will admit that I’m not crazy about what they did to Huntress, but we’ll see if it’s permanent or not.

Batman News Critic: Sean

Futures End #35
Futures End #35
The power shifts of the last few issues place on one man’s shoulders the weight of protecting the world against the threat that destroyed Stormwatch! There’s no stopping from here to the end.

Art by: Dan Green, Jesús Merino
Cover by: Ryan Sook
Written by: Keith Giffen, Dan Jurgens, Jeff Lemire, Brian Azzarello

Random Blurb of Excitement: I honestly have no idea what’s going on in this book… I dropped it like a bad habit a long time ago… Let’s give it up to Jesse for taking one for the team every week though!

There are no Bat-themed graphic novels this week… Like I said, if you’ve been curious about a title that you’re not reading, now’s the perfect time to check it out.
