Upcoming Comics: April 22, 2015

It’s going to be a light week for us this week, with only five titles to review! Next week will be exciting though! We’ll finally get the conclusion to Batman: Endgame, the start to Justice League: The Darkseid War, and wrap up Multiversity. So I’m willing to bet most of you really just want next week to hurry up and get here!

On a side note, I expect DC to release July solicitations this week, so I’ll pull those together once they’re released. DC usually slips a couple of solicitations out here and there ahead of the official announcement, but they haven’t done that yet, so we might have to wait another week. They did announce that the variant cover theme for July would be Teen Titans Go!, so I will include a poll for those. I’ll also announce the winners of the Best Cover of Q-1 poll that will move on to compete for the best cover at the end of the year!

This week’s releases are listed in order of what I’m most excited to read, to what I’m least excited to read. For each title, I’ll include the official solicitation, the talent credits, more of my randomness, and the Batman News team member that will be covering each book. After that, you’ll find a poll for this week’s best cover! Should you have trouble picking one cover, no worries! The poll is open so you can select as many covers as you’d like. Then, as always, you’ll find graphic novels scheduled for release this week, along  with their cover as well thanks to some requests (note: graphic novel covers will not be included in the poll for best cover). And of course, I (we) want to hear from you in the comments section! What titles are you picking up? What do you hope to see? And what are your thoughts about the order of my list? So, without further ado…

Convergence 3
Convergence #3
Death comes calling as an injured Telos takes out his rage on the people of Kandor, while the Earth-2 team endures another brutal casualty. And major plans are set in motion as Green Lantern and the others follow Deimos into the lost city of Skartaris to find Rip Hunter and the missing Time Masters, who could be their only hope of escape from this apocalypse for Infinite Earths!

Pencils by Stephen Segovia
Inks by Jason Paz

Random Blurb of Excitement: I really enjoyed last week’s issue, and even though they breezed right through would could’ve been an amazing moment, I still thought it was solid. And if we’re going to judge a book by it’s cover, then I’m stoked to read this week’s issue.

Batman Arkham Knight 2
Batman: Arkham Knight #3
Shipping twice in April! The Arkham Knight’s shadow spreads across the city as Batman digs deeper into the murders of villains – and it will soon put him on a collision course with the most dangerous enemy he’s ever faced! All this and more as the stunning prelude to the highly anticipated video game continues!

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Pencils by Viktor Bogdanovic and Ig Guara
Cover by Dan Panosian

Random Blurb of Excitement: I was a little disappointed with the previous issue, but it wasn’t bad. I’m hoping this issue gets back to the current plot. As much as I love the Joker, I’d rather focus on the Arkham Knight character.

Batman News Critic: Jay

Convergence New Teen Titans 1
Convergence: New Teen Titans #1
STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! Titans Together! The greatest Titans team of them all takes on the might of the Tangent Universe’s Doom Patrol!

Written by Marv Wolfman
Pencils by Nicola Scott
Inks by Marc Deering
Colored by Jeromy Cox
Cover by Annette Kwok and Nicola Scott

Random Blurb of Excitement: Disco Dick! The thing that really excites me about this book is that they’ve brought Marv Wolfman back for this title! There’s a lot of good that could potentially take place here, and I’m hoping for the best!

Batman 66 22
Batman ’66 #22
It’s fowl play in Gotham with that feathery fiend the Penguin on the loose!  Can the dynamic duo clip his wings, or will the dastardly delinquent stay one step ahead of our heroes?

Written by Mike W. Barr
Pencils by Michael Avon Oeming
Colored by Tony Avina
Cover by Laura Allred and Mike Allred

Random Blurb of Excitement: DC didn’t’ have the right solicitation for this issue, so I had to reach out to Jay for it! At this moment, I’m not sure if he came up with it himself, or if it was from his digital issue. Regardless, its good.

Convergence Batman and the Outsiders 1
Convergence: Batman & the Outsiders #1
STARRING HEROES FROM CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS! After a year under the dome, the Outsiders have gone their separate ways, but when OMAC attacks, Batman must find out if they have what it takes to still be a team.

Written by Marc Andreyko

Random Blurb of Excitement: I love the Outsiders… but nothing can save the fact that Marc Andreyko is writing this issue…
