The first of what is sure to be many variant covers for the upcoming finale of Frank Miller’s Batman epic has been revealed. The retail-exclusive image, drawn by Dave Johnson and based on a Jim Lee sketch, depicts Batman over the lifeless body of the Joker, recalling the villain’s final bow in The Dark Knight Returns.
Personally, I kind of like it. Granted, I thought it was going to be something like Batman holding Superman’s cape in a bloody fist, and there’s really no place to go from there but up. And, uh, let’s assume “Your Logo Here” won’t make the final cut.
