Update: The Hollywood Reporter says that Carey will play Gotham’s mayor, not Commissioner Gordon as previously reported. THR has broke a lot of casting news about LEGO Batman so far, so I think it’s safe to go with them on this one. The original report follows…
Mariah Carey is in talks to voice Commissioner Gordon in the LEGO Batman movie, according to Deadline. Typically Commissioner Gordon is male and not a pop singer, so this will be an interesting take on the character.
It was recently announced that Ralph Fiennes will voice Alfred, Rosario Dawson will voice Batgirl, Zach Galifianakis will voice The Joker, and Michael Cera will voice Robin opposite Will Arnett’s Batman.
The movie’s plot will help answer the question “can Batman be happy?”. It’s currently scheduled to be released on February 10, 2017.
