Ronda Rousey compares herself to Heath Ledger’s Joker ahead of UFC 193

Ronda Rousey is everywhere these days! While originally known among hardcore fans for her “bad girl” image, she’s become the UFC’s biggest star and someone that women around the world look up to. She’s getting ready for the biggest fight of her life as she defends her title against Holly Holm in a 70,000 seat stadium in Melbourne, Australia, which is live tonight on PPV. While promoting the fight, Rousey compared herself to Heath Ledger’s joker.

You often talk about how you like being the villain going into fights, but obviously here in Melbourne you’re the huge fan favorite. What’s that going to be like for you?

Heath Ledger as the Joker was still the favorite even though he was the villain. It was still more exciting when he came on the screen. Sometimes the role of the anti-hero and the villain are a little bit blurred because the bad guy never thinks he’s the bad guy. The bad guy thinks that he’s right and that no one understands him. I just have a little more understanding here with Aussies, I believe.

Heath Ledger was Australian, so that was a great analogy for Rousey to use while speaking to reporters there. It’s funny because Jesse Eisenberg recently said something similar about Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He said that Luthor thinks he’s the hero of his own story.
