Back in May, Tom Hardy revealed that his new movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant, forced him to drop out of Suicide Squad when production went longer than expected. In a new interview with Variety, Hardy explained that he was bummed when he had to give up his Rick Flagg Suicide Squad role.
As a result of the lack of snow, production had to stop in Calgary and resume months later in Argentina. Because of the delays, you had to drop out of “Suicide Squad.”
It punched right into that, yeah. That got derailed for me. Was I bummed? Of course I was. I hate fucking losing work. I kept bemoaning that they were losing me significant money on a daily basis. Actually, it was good for my character.
It’s not hard to see why Hardy was upset. While The Revenant was a big project that’s getting great reviews, the payday probably wasn’t close to his multi-picture superhero movie contract. But with a ton of DCEU movies coming out in the next few years, hopefully there’s another role that’s perfect for Hardy. Let me know if you have any ideas about that in the comments below.
