USA Today published a big article about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad today. I’m going to focus on the Suicide Squad portion because it offers more new info and even a new cast image (pictured above).

Suicide Squad director David Ayer admitted that his favorite days of filming included when Ben Affleck and Batman were on set.

“We made him fight,” the director says with a laugh. “He’s awesome (as Batman). … You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world.”

He even briefly commented on Jared Leto’s Joker, saying “He’s the king of Planet Joker.”

Ben Affleck is so proud of Suicide Squad, he feels like he’s related to it!

“It felt like I have such a cool cousin. This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I’ve never had that feeling.”

As we saw last year at Comic-Con, Ayer isn’t afraid to take shots at Marvel. This comment he made to USA Today could be seen as another one.

“For me, it’s a little more than just dropping a cut scene in the end credits to link projects,” he says. “You really have to be thinking three movies downrange and how today’s movie will impact more later-cycle projects.”

Head on over to USA Today for the full interview, and to hear from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill, and more!
