Like he did in The Dark Knight Rises, Christian Bale is once again going toe-to-toe with Tom Hardy, only this time it’s for an Oscar!
The 2016 Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and Bale and Hardy were both nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Bale was nominated for The Big Short, and Hardy was nominated for The Revenant. This is Hardy’s first Oscar nomination. Christian Bale won the award in 2011 for The Fighter.
Tom Hardy and The Revenant have received a lot of coverage here on Batman News because it’s the reason why Hardy had to drop out of Suicide Squad. The Revenant’s shoots were grueling, and when the long shoots went longer than scheduled, Hardy had no choice but to exit Suicide Squad.
Best of luck to both Batman and Bane this year at the Oscars. Here’s who else will be competing with them:
- Christian Bale in “The Big Short”
- Tom Hardy in “The Revenant”
- Mark Ruffalo in “Spotlight”
- Mark Rylance in “Bridge of Spies”
- Sylvester Stallone in “Creed”
The Oscars air live on Sunday, February 28th.
