Collider caught up with Zack Snyder in Los Angeles this week, and the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director revealed that he almost included The Joker and The Riddler in the movie!
“The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.”
It’s interesting to hear that both will be mentioned or hinted at in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Joker is no surprise, we’ve seen it in the trailers with the dead Robin costume. But to learn about The Riddler having a presence as well is very interesting! (Update: I was just reminded that we saw question mark graffiti in the trailers)
Based on what we’ve seen, the longer wait for The Joker will be worth it. Fans will be introduced to director David Ayer and Jared Leto’s take on The Joker in Suicide Squad later this year.
